Melungeons Host the Exhibit

Paints and Brush

Marvin Tupper Jones

Jul 19, 2024

June 21-22, 2024, Marvin and the Winton Triangle exhibit were part of the Melungeon Heritage Association (MHA) conference in Hillsborough, NC.  Marvin’s lecture about the exhibit details its concept, production, foundation support and promotion.  Twenty-five panels of the 30-panel, 75-foot long exhibit were installed in the auditorium. MHA also hosted presenters from Melungeon groups, the Occaneechi Nation and North Carolina A&T University.  As this was our 4th appearance at the annual conference, we got to be around friends once again.

“Building a Mixed Race Community – People, Buildings and Sites of the Winton Triangle“ is available for display until summer of 2026 where it will reside for six months at the Museum of the Albemarle in Elizabeth City, NC.
