Founded in 1920, the Fair has long served the Winton Triangle area.

THESE MARKERS highlight the value of our ancestors' contributions.  Chowan Discovery's latest is for the Atlantic District Fair, founded in 1920.  For 90 years the fair promoted the Winton Triangle area's skills in education, home economics, agriculture and self-help - plus, we had fun with the socializing, games, carnival rides, harness racing and fireworks.

This marker, funded by the William G. Pomeroy Foundation, is Chowan Discovery's 12th and our fifth marker for the Winton Triangle. Along with the Pomeroy Foundation, we thank the Atlantic District Fair Association and Bertie-Hertford Juneteenth Committee for hosting the unveiling at historic Robert l. Vann School, the next-door neighbor to the Fair.
